Unjustly pilloried many years ago by the cool police for wanting to be Leonard Cohen, Tanita Tikaram returns once more to the pop fray with some trickling beats and a Finnish string quartet on constant loop. Suffice it to say, it's not a wholly felicitous union, although Tanita's remarkable voice is a thing of husky beauty. To make things even more embarrassing, Chandrasonic of Asian Dub Foundation apparently popped in from the studio next door to do precisely diddly-squat of use to said disappointing tune in a remix capacity. Oh, and the title of the forthcoming Tanita Tikaram album is "Cappuccino Songs". There's really nothing polite one can say to that, is there?
